A friend of mine tried signing up to the PFs. And guess what happens. He can't post. Why? Because he has to wait for some forum mod to approve his account.... if that's the only solution to the spam bots signing up to the site, I'm afraid its a bad solution... let me use his own words:

The only person who can approve new accounts is FuglyDragon, I'm not involved with any of that stuff, and honestly, the way it works now is the only solution to the spam bots.

Why doesnt it happen on any of the other forums I visit? they are instant O_o

I don't care if we have spam bots... as it is right now, noone who doesn't already have an account can post, and as it is now, it can take days/weeks. Bet Fugz is on vacation.

I don't use AIM anymore... it shouldn't be needed to do so either. If you run a forum and you close the signups like that, then you should pay a little more attention to it... even if it's a half dead forum, or you'll never get the little activity there is to stay alive.
What's so hard to send out an e-mail that has a link you'll need to activate in order to get your forum account to work? That should fix the spam bots I guess. -------------------- Death is light as a feather, duty is heavier than a mountain.

I've asked for the ability to approve/reject accounts, but It hasn't been given to me any of the times i've asked. Fugs seems to be away, so for now you're friend will just have to wait I guess.

Right, this is getting absolutely ridiculous.
First of all thanks for making this post SWB, too bad it obviously didnt have any effect. This is Abradix/Biel Tan posting from BAs account - Because I STILL cant post myself. Infact it gets better, I signed up last monday again on the PFs because my old account was deleted, which is fine since Ive been inactive for years. But today the account that I created on monday was deleted. What kind of a way to attract new players is that, make them wait weeks before they can post and even then just randomly decide to delete their accounts instead? So now I registered again, if anyone can contact Fugsy that'd be spiffy, since the email in his profile doesnt work. And hi Wicky. |
